The Heart Check
This title probably sounds much more spiritual than this post is going to be. We literally went to get his heart checked today. He goes to a specialty cardiology clinic at UCLA once a year for long term follow up on his congenital defect. It was only seven months since his last visit, but the cardiologist wanted to assess heart function to see if he should even proceed with clinical trials or treatment options.
The bad news? The clerk that checked us in thought I was Simon’s mom. Not cool. I let it go since I’ll probably have to see her again someday. For the record, he is 18 months older than me . And he had just shaved this morning. And maybe I’m looking a little haggard and sleep deprived from, oh, I don’t know, the last two crazy weeks.
The good news… HIS HEART IS JUST FINE! No changes from prior reports. The doctor not only affirmed Simon’s heart health to proceed with treatments but is helping arrange second opinions at UCLA, too. Here’s a celebratory picture. Simon was a little on the grumpy side, his appointment was during nap time.
But hey, little blessings (except for the mom thing). We’ll take it.
